Where is the life we have lost in living?
Where is the wisdom we have lost in knowledge?
Where is the knowledge we have lost in information?
The cycles of Heaven in twenty centuries have only brought us farther from God and nearer to the Dust.
What can be saved; our humanity, our personhood, our connection to the Creator. Everyone can’t have a farm, can’t be tied to creation in the way that a farmer is.
But we can be about cultivation. Everyone can experience the joy of nurturing life, from beginning to end. We can all plant seeds, we can all attend to and care for life, we can all give ourselves to growth. We can all prepare for and rejoice at the harvest.
A Christian ecology puts the farmer in the equation;
He is to be a steward, God’s representative on earth.
He’s made in the image of God, and part of his thing caring for the garden.
His garden.
My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight and preserve sound judgment and discretion; they will be life for you. (Proverbs 3:21-22a)
