Position Purpose
The Associate Dean of Multicultural Development assumes an active role in cultivating an enriching experience for students of color at North Central University by providing spiritual, academic and relational support. The Associate Dean works collaboratively with faculty, staff and administration to facilitate discipleship opportunities and supportive care through mentoring relationships, programming and advocacy. The Associate Dean will collaborate with student life staff to provide co-curricular experiences that help prepare students to engage a diverse global society. Additionally, the Associate Dean will provide leadership and momentum for commuter programming on campus.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to
(50%) Multicultural programming and support
Facilitate relational ministry and discipleship with students of color and in partnership with the Student Development department of NCU.
Work collaboratively with faculty, staff and administration to support students of color on NCU’s campus.
Lead and facilitate the ACT Six program at NCU by working with our Urban Ventures partner to provide a strong experience throughout the entire yearly cycle.
Advocate student concerns and potential resolutions to the appropriate faculty and administrative offices.
Program supportive events for students of color, including but not limited to Student Affinity groups [Black Student Union, Asian Student Alliance, Latinos Unidos].
Supervise the Mosaic leadership group and programming events for campus community.
Facilitate student leadership training sessions on issues related to cultural competency.
Serve on the University’s diversity committee.
Partner with the Assistant Dean of Student Engagement to ensure quality campus-wide student engagement in multicultural activities.
Lead NCU Student groups as determined in collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Student Engagement.
Participate in key University visit days and events.
Devote time to learning, reading, and enhancing skills to become more proficient in multicultural student support and programs.
Other duties as assigned.
(30%) Commuter Programming
Provide leadership for commuter programming by developing relationships with commuting students and identifying needs.
Advocate for commuting students on ways to increase satisfaction and success of our commuting students.
Devote time to learning, reading, and enhancing skills to become more proficient in commuter support.
(20%) Student Engagement
Provide leadership and education specifically directed towards student leaders.
Assist in the overall planning and execution of pre-semester, ongoing, and wrap up training for new and current student leaders.
Partner with the Assistant Dean of Student Engagement to ensure quality campus-wide student engagement in multicultural activities.
Lead NCU Student groups as determined in collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Student Engagement and assigned by the Dean of Students.
Develop an assessment plan to determine the organization and programming effectiveness.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in ministry, social service, psychology or related field required. Master’s Degree preferred. Experience in the fields of Student Development, Student Ministries, and/or Higher Education.

Experience and competence in working with diverse populations.
Experience and competence in intercultural ministry, community service programming, and partnering with churches and non-profit organizations.
Skills in visioning, planning, executing, and assessing programs.
Knowledge of or ability to learn student database programs; familiarity with Microsoft products, Jotform, Formstack, Prezi, etc.
Ability to communicate and follow up verbally and in writing to ensure shared understanding of accurate information.
Effective public speaking skills.
Ability to maintain composure and resolve conflict with students, parents, and staff/faculty professionally and effectively.
Ability to handle issues of a confidential nature.
Ability to coordinate multiple projects and conflicting priorities to accomplish tasks efficiently and accurately.
Ability to work as a member of a team and independently within a broad strategic framework.
Self-motivated, creative, organized, decisive, and enthusiastic.
Research skills needed for gathering information on issues pertaining to higher education.
Ability to attend to detail and maintain accurate records.
