Hours: Full Time

The Assistant Director of Student Engagement (ADSE) oversees several student services at Simpson University, including commuter student services, student clubs and intramural sports. In addition, the ADSE assists the director with new student orientation (NSO), and various departmental and campus initiatives.

1. Master’s degree in Student Affairs or related field highly preferred; Bachelor’s degree required
2. Minimum of two years progressive experience in student affairs, student activities, or related field
3. Commitment to the holistic development of students and student leaders
4. Effective communication and relational skills
5. A strong willingness and ability to work as part of a team
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.) and experience in or willingness and aptitude to learn, integrated institutional database software
7. Demonstrate commitment to the profession, the ability to learn and be coachable
8. Properly use tact, diplomacy, discretion and sound judgment

Essential Functions:
1. Recruit, train, and evaluate student leaders for the various areas of responsibility
2. Develop, execute, and assess campus programs and events that encourage and support a strengths based and thriving oriented environment that fosters student success
3. Develop, oversee, and evaluate programs and activities for commuter students
4. Develop, oversee, and evaluate the program for campus clubs
5. Develop, execute and evaluate a series of intramural sports and tournaments
6. Assist with executing the new student orientation program
7. Assist with executing the First Year Experience/TRAC programs
8. Manage the budget for assigned areas
9. Oversee an appropriate record-keeping system
10. Actively participate in the formation and implementation of Student Development goals and policies and update procedures, protocols and policies for Student Engagement
11. Support the programming within Student Development

Related Responsibilities:
1. Serve on appropriate campus and departmental committees: campus retention, care team, orientation committee, etc.
2. Distribute, assess and evaluate the College Student Inventory (CSI)
3. CARE team and other committee work deemed appropriate for the position
