Job Title: Coordinator of Student Programs Accountability: to the Dean of Students Position Summary: The Coordinator of Student Programs is responsible for carrying out the vision of Community Life at King’s which is consistent with the mission and vision of the institution and that of the Student Life Department. The Coordinator will assist with planning, implementing, and evaluating a holistic, co-curricular, Christ-centered student program of events and activities that support the College’s mission that “students grow and mature as Christians in every part of their life”. The Coordinator will play a lead role in planning new student orientation, mentoring student leaders, animating various campus clubs, providing leadership training and resources, forming supportive relationships with students, expanding student volunteer and service opportunities. Characteristic Duties: - Develop intentional Community Life programming to support The King’s mission and Student Life’s mission of engaging students in ways that help them to feel and experience belonging, challenging one another within a culture of learning by taking responsibility through acts of humble ownership. The Coordinator of Student Programs must ensure that this programming demonstrates the institution’s understanding of holistic (whole-person) development, providing opportunities for students to be engaged physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally. - Plan and facilitate student retreats, orientation, and other periodic events that contribute to an overall lively and positive campus culture. - Advise the Students' Association Executive, mentor leaders, and attend their weekly meetings. - Work with the SA Club advisor to help student clubs to achieve their objectives. - Participate in the delivery of the First Year Initiative - Assist in the development and review of policies, procedures, and processes within the Student Life Office as appropriate. - Assist in developing effective liaisons with other areas of the University College as these intersect with the Student Life Office, including serving on appropriate committees. - Provide training to Community Life paraprofessional staff. - Be a visible presence on campus, and at campus events (including staff orientation, new student orientation, and campus retreats). - Act as a role model for commuter students and Student Association members, developing appropriate mentorship relationships with. Refer, as appropriate, to other campus resources such as the Campus Counselor and Campus Minister. - Select, train, and supervise student-leaders. - Maintain regular attendance at the following: o Student events (multiple large and small-scale events per year) o Community Life team meetings (bi-weekly) o Student Life Department meetings (bi-weekly) - Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications: - Must be concurrently enrolled in Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or equivalent summer program (10% tuition paid per semester as taxable benefit) - Excellent communication skills - Strong interpersonal relationship and crisis management skills - Experience with Student Affairs in a post-secondary environment - Good organizational skills - Self-motivated Note: - Irregular hours; must be prepared for early morning, evening and weekend responsibilities. Term of Position: 10 month working contract.
