Primary Responsibilities: • Direct the operation of the Student Life department according to its stated goals and policies, while supporting faculty, administration, and other college goals. • Select, train, and supervise all staff and student leaders to fulfill the responsibilities of the department. • Prepare and monitor the department budget. • Oversee the supervision and leadership of o Student Life staff, Resident Assistants, and other student leaders o Coordinating campus housing and security with Facilities department o Student development programs (traditional, non-traditional, and married students) o Family Ministry Team o Counseling services o Student Activities o Health care services o Campus recreation • Consult with staff and faculty regarding issues relevant to students and campus life. • Care and pray for students and provide counsel for those with spiritual need or discipline concerns. • Establish and revise policies in the Student Handbook and carry out its stated disciplinary process. • Serve on the Executive Committee • Serve as Student Life representative to the Faculty • Lead meeting of the Student Life Staff and Resident Assistants and Family Ministry Team leaders • Assist the Admissions department with College Days and making personal contacts with prospective students • Encourage student academic success and CLH participation • Arrange and manage student campus housing for men or women • Oversee security efforts for campus • Coordinate security issues with security company and the Sheriff’s department • Integrate Facility and Student Life departments on safety/security issues • Maintain a concise daily log of security incidents • Be familiar with the campus alarm system procedures and take appropriate action as stated in procedures • Maintain order on campus and report all incidents and accidents as prescribed in procedures • Respond to emergency situations on campus • Assist any student victim of any violation of policy, law or safety procedure. The Dean shall provide leadership, direction and support related to judicial affairs, university wellness, residential education and housing, university safety and security as well as perform general administrative responsibilities related to this position. The Dean shall also serve as a spiritual leader, providing leadership in carrying out the university’s mission and build positive, supportive and encouraging relationships with students, faculty and staff. Normally, the role of the Dean of students will support the efforts of the traditional undergraduate community. All activities of this position are to make a contribution to the fulfillment of the mission of the university. Successful candidate must possess a Master’s degree from a four-year college; at least five years of administrative experience; experience with implementing institution-wide initiatives, assessments, and program reviews; conflict resolution skills; and public relation skills.
