2012 Salary Benchmarking Data

Executive Summary by Maria Lehr and Andrew Lehr

Introduction and Methodology

The salary survey was created to provide salary benchmarking data for the members of the Association of Christians in Student Development. The survey was completed by 42 members of ACSD over various regions of the United States. No schools were identifiable through either name or location. Biographical information, including region, setting, and campus size, was recorded to allow for meaningful comparisons. This survey was developed for ACSD by Steve Ivester (Director of Student Activities, Wheaton College and Media/Publications Chair, ACSD) and Skip Trudeau (Vice President for Student Development, Taylor University). Survey results were then compiled and analyzed. Important findings have been listed below to use as benchmark comparisons for ACSD member institutions.

Demographics

The majority of respondents to the survey are located in the Midwest, North East, and South regions, accounting for 73.2% of the total respondents. 26.8% of the respondents are located in the South West and West regions. A vast majority of respondent universities are located in small, urban communities with population sizes between 10,000 and 100,000. Additionally, 31% of responding universities have a campus size between 1,000 and 1,499 students. Another 31% of schools have less than 1,000 students, while the remaining schools range from 1,500 students to more than 4,000.

It is important to note that survey data does not include the cost of living in certain regions of the United States. Survey results do not account for increased or decreased salaries due to economic regional differences.
